Coventry celebrates monarchs past and present at Jubilee Wood tree planting

Coventry Editorial 5th Dec, 2023   0

KERESLEY paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III with the ceremonial planting of two trees in the parish’s Jubilee Wood.

Coventry Lord Mayor Coun Jaswant Singh Birdi unveiled the trees at the wood on Saturday to honour the two British monarchs.

Last Wednesday, Keresley Parish Councillors, volunteers and Coventry Park Rangers planted the Lebanese Cedar and Atlas Cedar trees and did some litter picking.

The three-hectare wood in Watery Lane was created to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

The authority has been regularly holding ‘community action days’ to maintain, improve and rejuvenate the green space since last year.

Last year’s run of action days was planned to return the area to its former glory for the Platinum Jubilee.
