DRIVERS are being warned of extensive maintenance work on a key route into and out of Coventry.
The aim of the maintenance on the M69 bridge near the city is being carried out by National Highways to ensure the safety of road users and protect the structure.
Work begins on Monday, January 8, on the M69 northbound carriageway over the M6 at junction 2 and is not expected to be completed until May.
The maintenance includes re-waterproofing the bridge, replacing bridge joints and resurfacing.
Most of the scheme can be carried out through lane closures and narrow lanes with work taking place during the day, between 8am and 5pm. There will be occasional road closures overnight when diversion routes will be in place.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and road users, speeds will be reduced through the works.
