AN HISTORIC hotel near Coventry has received a nationally recognised seal of approval after committing to a more sustainable future.
Coombe Abbey Hotel, nestled near Brinklow, Warwickshire, and operated by No Ordinary Hospitality Management (NOHM), has proudly achieved the Greengage ECOsmart accreditation for the second consecutive year.
The accreditation recognises companies which demonstrate comprehensive approaches to environmental sustainability and promote a green approach.
The hotel was attained the bronze award after assessors looked at various eco-friendly approaches including, energy and water conservation, waste management, sustainable food and beverage practices, and corporate social responsibility.
The report highlighted the hotel’s energy-saving laundry system, utilisation of refillable soap dispensers, implementation of motion sensor lighting, and procurement of meeting supplies crafted from recycled materials.
Coombe Abbey Hotel also boasts hybrid meeting facilities, offering vegan, eco-friendly, and fairtrade options to its clients.
Particularly lauded was the chefs’ choice menu, designed to minimise food waste by offering an alternative to traditional corporate buffets.
Plans are underway to update menus regularly, incorporating seasonal produce from local suppliers to further reduce the hotel’s ecological footprint.
Ron Terry, Group Operations Director at NOHM. said: “We are very fortunate to be situated at the heart of the Warwickshire countryside, surrounded by the wonderful parkland that is enjoyed by thousands of people each year, including our hotel guests.
“It means we can see day-to-day how important it is to be as sustainable as we possibly can in order to protect not only our global environment but the one on our doorstep too.
“We will be taking further measures in the coming weeks, months and years in order to ensure we become a more sustainable venue because it’s something we, as a business, our team and our customers take very seriously.”
