Children at Coventry primary brave the big chill in newly donated fleeces

Editorial Correspondent 15th Feb, 2021 Updated: 15th Feb, 2021

KEY worker children at a Coventry primary school have received more than 200 fleeces to help them keep warm inside during the current cold spell.

Allesley Hall Primary School was handed the donation from the Amazon team in Coventry for current pupils to wear in classrooms where windows and doors are required to be open as part of the Covid regulations.

Head teacher Claire Potts said: “On behalf of our pupils, we would like to say a big thank you to Paul and the Amazon team. This donation is very thoughtful and is much appreciated as it will keep the children warm and comfortable over the cold winter months.”

Paul Roberts, site leader at Amazon in Coventry, said: “We are proud to support Allesley Hall Primary school and we commend its pupils and staff for all of their efforts during this particularly challenging time. We hope the fleeces will help everyone stay warm and cosy while they learn, work and play.”

The donation was made as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon is also providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering over 2 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
