Coronavirus: Private hospital in Leamington made available to NHS

Coventry Editorial 28th Mar, 2020   0

A PRIVATE hospital in Leamington is being made available to the NHS as part of the battle against coronavirus.

Nuffield Health is making Warwickshire Hospital, on Old Milverton Lane available for use by the under-pressure NHS.

It follows discussions about how independent hospitals can support the NHS during the Covid-19 outbreak.

The private hospital is also offering staff and equipment to fight the virus. It will be reimbursed at cost meaning no profit is made.

Chief executive Steve Gray said: “This is an unprecedented time, as the UK’s largest healthcare charity we have a huge role to play in supporting the NHS patients in our local communities across the nation.

“We, alongside other independent hospital providers, have been in discussions with the NHS about how we can support the NHS. This is likely to be for a minimum of three months while the coronavirus situation continues to require our support.”
