Coronavirus: Two show highlights of annual Kenilworth calendar cancelled

Coventry Editorial 20th Mar, 2020   0

TWO annual highlights in Kenilworth have been been cancelled.

The Kenilworth Show was due to be held on Saturday June 6 at Stoneleigh.

A spokesperson said: “A huge amount of work by volunteers goes into staging this event which has been at the heart of the community for almost eight decades, and we would like to thank everyone for the help and support this year.

“We hope we will be back stronger than ever on June 5, 2021 and we wish everyone the best during what is an extremely testing time.”

And the Kenilworth Lions Grand Show scheduled for Saturday June 13 in Abbey Fields. has also been cancelled.

A spokesman said: “Consideration was given to delaying the event until later in the year, but the nature of the planned event and the possible clashes with other events made this impractical.

“We are writing individually to all of our generous sponsors of the Grand Show, to our entertainers, caterers and to the many local organisations and small businesses planning to have stalls at the event, to thank them for their support and to hope that they will be back with us next year.

“This cancellation is doubly disappointing as we were forced to cancel last year’s Show at short notice due to the bad weather and waterlogged ground conditions.

“However, Lions are a resolute group of people, and we shall be back next year with a bigger and better Grand Show than ever.”
