COVENTRY is set to welcome a new literary voice as local author Karen Shandley gears up for the release of her debut book, ‘Josh Won’t Wash’.

Scheduled to hit the shelves in two weeks, this whimsical tale promises to take readers on a hilarious journey through the trials and tribulations of childhood hygiene battles.

Karen invites readers into the messy world of young Josh, who proudly wears his dirt like a badge of honour.

Through witty storytelling and relatable anecdotes, the book offers a fresh perspective on the age-old struggle of convincing children to embrace cleanliness.

Alongside her debut release, Karen has already hard at work on their next project—a Tudor-themed book aimed at engaging children in history and art – and young artists have the chance to be a part of the journey.

In collaboration with the William Shakespeare Guildhall House in Stratford, Karen is calling on children to unleash their creativity for a chance to have their artwork displayed in the iconic venue.

The competition, open to budding artists across Coventry, promises a treasure trove of prizes, including art and writing materials, as well as the opportunity for their work to be showcased in a historic setting.

Karen said: “The competition is to promote history art within children, it’s for a Tudor piece of art and the winning prize gets to display their work in the William Shakespeare guildhall house in Stratford.”
