COVENTRY author and lifelong City fan, Michael Keane, has released a new book that takes readers on a nostalgic journey back to Coventry City’s unforgettable 1987 FA Cup-winning season.

This latest work is part of a series by his publisher that highlights the best-ever seasons of various football clubs, and Michael’s choice to focus on the Sky Blues’ triumph is sure to resonate with fans.

His passion for football and Coventry City is evident in his writing – a dedicated supporter since he was ten years old, Michael has been following the team for over 40 years.

This is his second book with the same publisher, following his earlier work, ‘Football in the 1990s’.

The book, has match reports, player descriptions, and accounts of the wild celebrations, and it offers a comprehensive look at the historic season. Michael’s research involved revisiting match programmes, watching old clips on YouTube, and delving into the City Archives to read old match reports.

Michael said: “Writing the book was great fun to pop down Memory Lane again and hopefully fans might enjoy the same trip.”

In light of Coventry City’s recent near-success in the FA Cup, he added: “Hoping we don’t have to wait another 37 years for the next FA Cup win – thought it might happen this year until VAR ruined the day at Wembley.”
