History hot-spots set to welcome the return of Heritage Open Days to Warwickshire

THE RICH heritage and history of Warwickshire is set to be celebrated in a series of virtual and live events.

Heritage Open Days will be returning from Friday September 11 to September 20, with a host of exhibitions, tours, zoom presentations and more, to educate people about the county’s past.

Organised by Shakespeare’s England, the events will allow guests to roam castle corridors, marvel at mosaics, discover the stories of wartime Warwickshire, peak at a medieval tavern, visit Victorian kitchen gardens, stroll through a street art festival and more.

Shakespeare’s England chief executive Helen Peters said: “Shakespeare’s England has so many members that have such a fascinating history and Heritage Open Days is the perfect time to celebrate it.

“Our members have a packed programme of events and it is fantastic to see that they have plenty of activities for all ages.

“This year has been an extremely difficult one for the tourism and hospitality sectors because of the Coronavirus pandemic and with many people staying at home or having staycations, now is the time to discover what Coventry and Warwickshire has to offer.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors, new and old to the region or residents looking for a day out and giving them a fun and informative visit.”
