A MAN remains in hospital after he was hit by a train at Berkswell railway station on Wednesday night (December 18).

The incident caused disruption to services along the West Coast mainline, and travellers from Birmingham International station were told to use bus services to travel to Birmingham and Coventry.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 5.52pm to Berkswell Train Station. An ambulance, paramedic officer and a critical care paramedic from the Air Ambulance Service attended. Crews treated one man on scene, who had sustained a serious injury, before he was taken on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

British Transport Police said: “At 5.47pm on 18 December, officers were called to Berkswell station following a report of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries. This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”

The National Rail service confirmed a person was hit by a train between Birmingham International and Coventry.
