Pensioner gets inked in Kenilworth - age 94

A PENSIONER has caught the tattooing bug after getting inked in Kenilworth – at the age of 94.

Hilda West had her late husband Ernest and son David’s initials permanently marked onto her forearm.

She believes she could be the oldest person in the country to get a tattoo.

And the pensioner – who lives at Castlebrook Care Home – is now deciding which tattoo to have next.

She said: “It did not hurt one bit.

“I look at the tattoo every day and think of my husband and son.

“I’m not going to stop with the initials. I want a butterfly or peacock done next.”

Hilda visited the Ink on Skinz studio in Oaks Precinct where tattooist Matthew Gardner came in on his day off and did the body art free of charge.

He told the Observer: “I jumped at the opportunity to tattoo Hilda, she’s such a lovely woman.

“One of her carers contacted me to do her tattoo and she handled it better than most people I’ve done, even bodybuilders. I did everything I could to make her experience special.

“She’s truly an amazing woman and can now say she’s ticked this off her bucket list.”
