ACTORS preparing to take to the stage as sailors are doing their bit to support a local sea scouts’ fundraising campaign.
The sailor quartet from Music Theatre Warwick’s production of ‘Anything Goes’ visited the 2nd Warwick Sea Scouts to help them raise money to build a new hut.
The current scout hut in St Nicholas Park, Warwick, is too small and is showing signs of aging.
And having been granted planning permission for a new HQ building next to the St Nicholas Leisure Centre in Warwick and a separate Boathouse next to the River Avon, the scouts turned to the University of Warwick musical theatre society to help them reach their £680,000 fundraising target.
The sea scouts taught the thespians to tie naval knots before being treated to a couple of sea-faring numbers from the award-winning musical.
The cast are also taking part in an online social media campaign, urging friends and theatre-goers to donate to the sea scouts’ cause.
Donations to the 2nd Warwick Sea Scouts HQ appeal can be made online at https://make-a-donation.org/campaign/new-hq-appeal.
Music Theatre Warwick’s production of Anything Goes will play at the Warwick Arts Centre from Wednesday, February 24 til Saturday, February 27.
Tickets are available online from www.warwickartscentre.co.uk or via the box office on 02476 524524.
