COVENTRY City have appointed Jamie Johnson as the club’s new head of scouting.
Former chief scout Stuart Benthom departed for Championship rivals Blackpool in November alongside head of recruitment Chris Badlan.
Johnson joins the Sky Blues from League Two side AFC Wimbledon and will work closely with new head of recruitment Dean Austin who arrived at the club in December last year.
City boss Mark Robins said: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie to the club. He brings great experience and knowledge with him and we look forward to working with him.
“Dean Austin has hit the ground running since he arrived in December as Head of Recruitment, but has been a one man band.
“Jamie’s arrival will add greatly to the club’s recruitment department and our ability in this area, as will the addition of recruitment analysts and scouts to the team too over the coming weeks, as we look ahead to an important transfer window in the summer.”
Johnson began his scouting career at Huddersfield Town before later moving to Sunderland and then Tottenham Hotspur.
He became Chief Scout at Millwall in June 2009 before taking up a Head of UK Scouting role at Derby County and then became European Scouting Manager at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Johnson departed the Rams to become Head of Recruitment at Rotherham United before taking up a Senior Scout role at Portsmouth.
After two years on the South Coast, Johnson moved back to the capital to become Head of Recruitment at Leyton Orient before then taking on the same role at AFC Wimbledon who he joined in July 2022.
