MATTY Godden has left Coventry City to complete a permanent move to League One side Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
The 32-year-old helped fire the Sky Blues to the League One title in 2019/20 after joining the club from Peterborough United in August 2019.
Godden departs the club after scoring 50 goals in 156 appearances as he hit double figures in three of his five campaigns with the Sky Blues.
Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: “Matty has made a significant contribution to our rise up the leagues, including being integral to our League One title win and then establishing ourselves in the Championship.
“He will be fondly remembered by Sky Blues supporters for many years to come for what he has achieved here, and we wish him the best of luck for the future.”
Coventry owner and executive chairman Doug King added: “Matty has been a fantastic servant to Coventry City and an important part of the club’s journey. He is an exemplary professional and we wish him the very best for the future.”
