COVENTRY Blaze have announced the signing of British forward Zaine McKenzie for the 2024/25 Elite League season.
The Coventry-born 20-year-old joins the club following three seasons split between EIHL and NIHL.
In 2023/24 he iced 12 times for the Nottingham Panthers, had 25 appearances for Telford Tigers and 23 for the Bees IHC in his second stint with the Berkshire side.
Blaze coach, Kevin Moore, said: “Zaine is a local guy who has dedicated himself to his craft. He has a great shot, and will be great for our culture.
“I firmly believe Zaine will continue to round out his game and develop into an all-round player.”
His first stint with the Bees IHC came in 2021/22, when the 6ft 1in winger also iced for the Milton Keynes Lightning.
In 2022/23, McKenzie continued with the Lightning and made his professional debut with the Panthers, providing an assist in the third-place play-off game.
McKenzie left the UK at the age of 16 to play in North America for two years at the Ontario Hockey Academy.
He appeared twice in under-20 World Championship tournaments, helping Great Britain win silver in 2022 and bronze 2023.
