World Deaf Golf Championships head for Coventry

FOREST of Arden Marriot Hotel & Country Club in Coventry will host the 2020 World Deaf Golf Championships.

The nine-day event, from Friday August 7 to Saturday August 15, will involve more than 120 golfers from 21 nations, in the 25th anniversary year of the championships.

Having hosted numerous European Tour events, plus the English Open and British Masters, in years gone by, the venue is no stranger to top-level golf.

Simeon Hart, president of the World Deaf Golf Federation, believes next year’s tournament has the potential to be a landmark moment for the sport.

“The World Deaf Golf Championships is the second most important golf competition after the Deaflympics and it continues to grow with new players and new countries getting involved,” he said.

“We are really pleased to see a recent increase in the number of ladies and young golfers competing, which will help build our legacy as we move forward.”
