COVENTRY City have completed the signing of forward Brandon Thomas-Asante from Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Sky Blues and scored against City for the Baggies at the Coventry Building Society Arena last season.

Thomas-Asante appeared set to join fellow Championship side Hull City only for the Sky Blues to hijack the deal, according to African outlet Flashscore.

Coventry manager Mark Robins said: “We’re excited to welcome Brandon to Coventry City.

“He is a powerful and pacy striker who has goalscoring pedigree at this level plus a great attitude and work-rate.

“Brandon can play across the front line and will further strengthen our attacking options.

“We look forward to working with him at Coventry City.”

Thomas-Asante began his career with Milton Keynes Don’s, enjoying loan spells at Sutton United and Oxford City.

He later moved to Ebbsfleet United before making the switch to Salford City in September 2019.

Thomas-Asante established himself as a key player at Salford in League Two, scoring 26 goals in 107 appearances, while he also scored in a penalty shootout at Wembley as the Ammies beat Portsmouth in the 2019/20 EFL Trophy final to win the competition for the first time in the club’s history.

His impressive displays earned him a move to West Brom in August 2022 and he bagged 11 league goals last season as the Baggies secured a play-off spot.

He has won one cap for Ghana at senior international level and will wear the number 23 shirt this season.
