MARK Robins stressed the importance of a clear week to prepare for Coventry City’s trip to Bristol City this weekend.
The Sky Blues secured their first league win of the season against Oxford United last time out as Haji Wright netted a late winner at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
City beat Bristol 1-0 in the Carabao Cup earlier this month although Sky Blues boss Robins is expecting a different type of game this weekend following some transfer activity at the Ashton Gate club.
Robins said: “It’s the first time we’ve had [a full week to prepare for a game] this season, so we’ve had a good week, and the players have been good and applied themselves really well.
“We want to continue the feeling we’ve had in the last two games. The way we have acquitted ourselves has been good, especially in possession.
“We go back to Bristol this weekend and then entertain Oxford again midweek, so it’s deja vu again for both of us.
“Things change and will be slightly different. They’ve signed Scott Twine in the meantime and there has been quite bit of movement in the Championship.
“There’s a lot of talk around their players, so it’s always a busy time and dynamics change all the time.
“We’re looking forward to the game, concentrating on us, whilst having an eye on what their threats are and where they will come from.”
Robins also confirmed new club captain Ben Sheaf is not far away from returning to action although this weekend’s game will likely come too soon for the influential midfielder.
He also expressed his delight at signing Belgium youth striker Norman Bassette earlier this week as City broadened their attacking options.
Robins added: “I’ve always said you need everyone fit and firing especially someone like Ben who is a top performer.
“You miss players when they’re injured and Ben is one of those players and stats suggest he is one of the best in the Championship so clearly, he will have an impact when he returns, he won’t be far away.
“[Norman Bassette] is a good player. He was starting to find his feet in the Belgian league, and he scored a few really good goals, with good movement, power and pace.
“He has an eye for goal and has loads of potential and it’s what we do. We look for attributes and look for [people we think we can develop] and he’s one of those players.”
Coventry travel to Bristol on Saturday, August 24 with kick-off at 12.30pm at Ashton Gate.
