FOOTBALL - Rudoni rues 'lack of concentration' in Coventry City's defeat against Sheffield Wednesday

JACK Rudoni admits a ‘lack of concentration’ cost Coventry City dear in their 2-1 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

Rudoni opened the scoring with his first Sky Blues goal only for Shea Charles to score an injury-time winner after Djeidi Gassama levelled the game for the Owls at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

And Rudoni admits Coventry must find a way to start winning games having won just two of their nine league matches this season.

Rudoni said: “It is a hard one to take. It is a lack of concentration, a lack of defensive concentration that has let us down and that really cannot happen. Everyone in the dressing room knows that.

“We are devastated with the result as well, but there is not a lot more we can do other than get ready for the next game over the next two weeks.

“It took us ages to start playing our stuff, then at the end of each half we lost concentration, and they scored. They are easily avoidable goals, so we are disappointed.

“We are disappointed but we are going to have to find a way to start winning.”

City head into the international break just one point and two places above the Championship relegation zone.

And Rudoni insists the Sky Blues will come back with a bang following the conclusion of the international break.

Rudoni added: “We have to regroup, get together and sort it out.

“We have to prepare as good as we can for the next game, it is a big game away at Preston.

“We need these two weeks to look at ourselves and how we can do better, make sure we come back with a bang and get some points on the board.”

Coventry are next in action away at Preston North End on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 12.30pm at Deepdale.
