COVENTRY City suffered a last gasp 2-1 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday after conceding in injury time.
Shea Charles netted a 93rd minute winner for the Owls after Djeidi Gassama cancelled out Jack Rudoni’s opener at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
And the result means Coventry head into the international break 20th in the Championship table, just one point above the relegation zone.
The Sky Blues took the lead on 26 minutes when Rudoni brought down Liam Kitching’s pass before driving towards goal and drilling a low effort into the bottom left corner from 25-yards out.
Wednesday went close to a leveller when a corner from the right fell kindly into the path of Charles seven-yards from goal only for Ben Wilson to make a crucial stop.
And the Owls equalised in first-half injury time when Gassama lashed a shot past Wilson at his near post from 15-yards out following a mistake from Kitching.
City almost reclaimed the lead after the break as Haji Wright headed against the crossbar from six-yards out.
However, the visitors stole the points at the death when substitute Anthony Musaba played in Charles who coolly finished beyond an onrushing Wilson three minutes into injury time.
Coventry are next in action away at Preston North End on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 12.30pm at Deepdale.
