RHYS Carr is proud of Coventry City’s character after the Sky Blues came from two goals down to draw with league leaders Sunderland in his first game as interim boss.
A stirring second-half performance saw City come away with a point thanks to goals from Haji Wright and Jack Rudoni at the Stadium of Light.
And after a difficult week for the club, following the sacking of former boss Mark Robins, Carr insists he will do his absolute best during his tenure as interim manager.
Carr said: “I’m proud and I am pleased, especially in the second half. We spoke a lot about character at half time and sticking together, and that’s exactly what they did. I am really pleased.
“Even at two-down, we felt like we were still in the game. We made a couple of tweaks, we asked them to stay together, and that’s where you get your rewards.
“We decided that if we come here feeling sorry for ourselves then we will end up feeling sorry for ourselves. We spoke about that again at half time and we saw that character that they showed.
“I expected to hear those chants because Mark Robins has been fantastic for this football club. There is not a supporter up there who does not want the best for Coventry City – and that is the same for all the staff here.
“I am taking the role day-by-day. I was asked to take the team and I will do my absolute best. I really care about this club and I really want us to do well.”
Coventry host Sheffield United on Saturday, November 23 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
