COVENTRY City produced a superb second-half comeback to draw 2-2 with league leaders Sunderland in their first game since sacking manager Mark Robins.
Goals from Haji Wright and Jack Rudoni earned the Sky Blues a point under the guidance of interim boss Rhys Carr at the Stadium of Light.
The result means Coventry sit 17th in the Championship table, one point above the relegation zone.
Sunderland broke the deadlock on 17 minutes when Wilson Isidor looped a stunning volley into the top right corner of the goal from Romaine Mundle’s cross.
And the Black Cats doubled their lead on 25 minutes as Dennis Cirkin played a one-two with Mundle before driving at the City defence and unleashing a venomous strike from 25-yards out past Bradley Collins.
However, the Sky Blues halved the deficit on 62 minutes when the ball broke to Wright in the box and he lashed a first time shot into the net from 12-yards out.
And City drew level with six minutes left to play as Rudoni headed in Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s cross from the left at the back post from close range.
Coventry host Sheffield United on Saturday, November 23 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
