FOOTBALL - Milan van Ewijk admits Coventry City 'deserved more' from Norwich City draw

MILAN van Ewijk admits Coventry City ‘deserved more’ from their frustrating draw against Norwich City.

The full-back played a key role in City’s equaliser as he slid in to win back possession in the box before Haji Wright bundled home an injury-time leveller at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

That came after Mathias Kvistgaarden’s deflected strike put the Canaries ahead in the first half with Wright’s late equaliser the least Coventry deserved.

And van Ewijk admits the Sky Blues should have been more clinical in front of goal after Coventry managed just four shots on target from 28 attempts.

Van Ewijk said: “We dominated them and if you look at the stats we should be scoring a lot of goals but it just didn’t happen.

“At least we didn’t lose, it wasn’t the game we wanted. I was hungry until the end to block the ball and we manage to score a goal.

“We deserved more and hopefully we can continue this run that we’re on and get more points.

“It’s something good. Hopefully, we can keep winning and drawing. It’s important not to lose these kind of games and keep on grinding.”

Van Ewijk reportedly attracted interest from both the Premier League and Bundesliga during the summer transfer window.

However, the defender, who turned 25-years-old last week, remains committed to the Sky Blues and has registered three assists in five league appearances this season.

Van Ewijk added: “Back-to-back derbies is a nice thing. Leicester first and then Birmingham.

“I remember the last derby we played at home [against Leicester]. That looked very nice.

“You read a lot of things [about transfers]. I will leave it how it is on the internet.

“I’m still here and playing well and hope to keep on going like that.”

Coventry are next in action against Leicester City on Saturday, September 20 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the King Power Stadium.
