CRYSTAL Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed ‘it looks like’ Romain Esse will join Coventry City on loan in the coming days.

Earlier this week, Sky Sports News’ James Savundra revealed the Sky Blues are close to finalising a deal for the 20-year-old.

And Palace boss Glasner has now confirmed Esse will likely complete a move to the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The FA Cup-winning manager also confirmed Esse will not feature for Palace in their Premier League game against Aston Villa tomorrow night.

Glasner said: “Yeah it looks like [it]. Not yet, but he won’t be part of our squad tomorrow.

“It’s better for him. We talked together. It’s finding the best environment for him as a player, to reignite his career.

“I still believe in his talent but I didn’t have the feeling that he brings to the team what we actually need, and that’s why I played for example [Christantus] Uche in front of him, when we needed a bit of physicality.

“Right now, his way of playing didn’t exactly what we needed at the moment. That’s why it’s better for him to go on loan and get more minutes and develop.

“He’s a good boy, with good talent, but I didn’t give him the minutes for his personal development.”

Esse can play on either flank or in an attacking midfield role.

He has made just seven appearances for Palace in all competitions this season including three in the UEFA Conference League.

Esse moved to Palace from Championship side Millwall in January last year after scoring seven goals in 66 appearances for the Lions.

He featured as unused substitute as Palace won both the FA Cup and Community Shield.

Esse scored for the Eagles against Brentford last season with his first touch for the club in the Premier League.

Coventry have also reportedly agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur to sign winger Yang Min-hyeok on loan.
