COVENTRY City are ‘set to sign’ Crystal Palace youngster Romain Esse on a loan deal until the end of the season.
According to Sky Sports News’ James Savundra, the Sky Blues are close to finalising a deal for the 20-year-old.
He would become Frank Lampard’s first signing of the January transfer window.
Esse can play on either flank or in an attacking midfield role.
He has made just seven appearances for Palace in all competitions this season including three in the UEFA Conference League.
The report adds that the recent arrival of Brennan Johnson at Selhurst Park with further limit Esse’s first team opportunities.
Esse moved to Palace from Championship side Millwall in January last year after scoring seven goals in 66 appearances for the Lions.
He featured as unused substitute as Palace won both the FA Cup and Community Shield.
Esse scored for the Eagles against Brentford last season with his first touch for the club in the Premier League.
