CARLTON Cole expects Coventry City boss Frank Lampard to manage in the Premier League next season whether or not the Sky Blues achieve promotion.

Cole spent the first few years of his career playing alongside Lampard at Chelsea and later achieved promotion to the Premier League with West Ham United in 2011/12.

The former striker twice managed double figures in the Premier League for West Ham and also earned seven caps for England.

And Cole predicts Lampard will end up managing in the top flight next season and praised the Sky Blues boss for proving his doubters wrong.

Speaking to 10bet, Cole said: “It is a foregone conclusion that Frank Lampard will be managing in the Premier League next season.

“Listen, Frank’s done a massive job at Coventry. I look at him and think, damn, he deserves everything that’s coming to him.

“He was written off for quite a while, people were belittling his managerial skills. I looked at him and thought, nah, he’s definitely a manager.

“He takes it very seriously and it was always going to come off.

“Coventry have got the team playing for him, they believe in him and he’s smashing it on top of the league.

“I never had Coventry at the top of the Championship at the start of the season.

“I know they just missed out last season, but this season it could have gone either way, last season they were playing on vibes and this season they’ve consolidated it.

“They’re a serious outfit – they score goals and play exciting football. So Frank Lampard will be in the Premier League next season whether it’s with Cov or not.”
