COVENTRY City’s lead at the top of the Championship table has evaporated following a 2-1 defeat away at Queens Park Rangers.
A goal early in the second half from Josh Eccles put the Sky Blues ahead at Loftus Road only for Richard Kone to draw the home side level.
And Nicolas Madsen completed the turnaround for the R’s soon after Kone’s leveller as Coventry suffered a third successive defeat on the road.
The result means Coventry top the Championship table ahead of Middlesbrough on goal difference after leading the division by 10 points in November.
QPR went close shortly before half time as Kone looped a header towards goal which Carl Rushworth tipped onto the crossbar and behind for a corner.
However, Coventry broke the deadlock on 53 minutes when Jack Rudoni delivered a cross to the back post from the right and Eccles guided a header back across goal and into the net from a tight angle.
The home side equalised on 66 minutes when Kone superbly flicked Madsen’s low ball in from the right into the bottom left corner from eight-yards out.
And QPR took the lead seven minutes later as Madsen lashed a loose ball into the roof of the net from 12-yards out after Rushworth could only parry Harvey Vale’s cross into the scorer’s path.
Coventry host Oxford United on Saturday, February 7 with kick-off at 3.01pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
