AROUND-the-clock mental health crisis support is available in Coventry and Warwickshire thanks to the launch of a new service.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has partnered with Shout to offer free, 24/7 mental health crisis text support for anyone who is struggling to cope.

People living in Coventry and Warwickshire can text CWHOPE to 85258 to start a confidential conversation with a mental health professional at any time of day or night.

The service is designed to provide immediate support for people experiencing anxiety, stress, loneliness, suicidal thoughts or any mental health crisis.

Conversations take place entirely by text, making it a discreet and accessible option for those who may find speaking on the phone difficult.

Mary Mumvuri, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, said: “We are proud to introduce this crisis text service for people across Coventry and Warwickshire.

“We know that reaching out for help can be incredibly difficult, especially in moments of distress, and not everyone feels able to speak on the phone.

“By partnering with Shout, we are expanding the ways people can access support and ensuring help is available in a way that feels safe and discreet.

“This service reflects our commitment to providing compassionate, responsive mental health care and to meeting people where they are, whenever they need us.”

Kane Hazard, NHS Partnerships Manager at Mental Health Innovations, added: “Through providing Shout’s clinical model across the region, we can help ease demand on 111 and in-person services, ensuring people can access urgent support from trained mental health professionals simply by texting CWHOPE to 85258.

“We know that reaching out on the phone or in person can be difficult. Texting provides a discreet, accessible way for people to ask for support whenever they need it.”

The service is free from all major mobile networks and is available to people of all ages across Coventry and Warwickshire.
