COVENTRY City were held to a goalless draw by League Two side Northampton Town in the club’s latest pre-season outing.
The Sky Blues stepped up their preparations ahead of the 2026/27 season with a trip to Sixfields Stadium.
Coventry played their home games at Sixfields during the 2013/14 campaign following a rent dispute with then stadium owners Arena Coventry Ltd.
Frank Lampard handed a start to summer signing Loum Tchaouna in a strong starting line-up.
Chances were at a premium in the first half as Sam Hoskins fired an early chance over the bar for the home side.
Coventry’s best chance of the first half saw Milan van Ewijk whip a dangerous cross into the box from the right which just evaded Ephron Mason-Clark at the back post.
The Sky Blues made eight changes at half time which saw the likes of Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Kai Andrews and Jahnoah Markelo introduced from the bench.
City went close early in the second period as Frank Onyeka saw his strike from distance take a deflection and loop behind for a corner.
Lampard made further changes just past the hour mark as Raphael Borges Rodrigues and Norman Bassette made their wan onto the pitch.
Coventry saw a penalty appeal waved away by the referee later in the half after Markelo went to ground following a trip in the box.
And Rodrigues saw his tame effort gathered by Northampton goalkeeper Zach Jeacock while Bassette had a couple of chances in the closing stages.
Coventry continue their pre-season campaign against Espanyol on Saturday, August 8 with kick-off at 5.30pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
