COVENTRY City team manager Mark Robins is at the Ricoh Arena ahead of the Sky Blues’ first League Two clash against Notts County.

Live updates to come:

Robins said: “The season can’t come around quick enough.

“We’re looking forward to it.

“The new players will be fine. They’ve been there and done it before. The likes of the signings we’ve made – they’re all intelligent players.

“We’re in good shape. It’s a well balanced squad.

“The lads have come in from day one and hit the ground running. They’ve enjoyed it, the hard work.

“They’re high fiving each other at the end. Pre-season is all about getting fitness levels up.”

Good start

“It’s about performance, work rate, and performance. If we get those things right the result takes care of itself.

“The lads are ready. We’d like to win it. Everyone in the league has the same aim.

“When a team is ready to get promoted they get promoted.

“We need to be challenging. Nobody wants Coventry City in League Two but that’s the reality at the moment.

“There will be ups and downs – that’s the nature of the season.

“There’s some real talent.”

Academy

“Our academy graduates have done well. We’ve got to help them get to the level where they’re knocking on the door to get into the first team.”

Transfers

“It could be an interesting 24 hours. We could add one or two before the next league game.”

George Thomas

“It’s dragged on. We want it to be put to bed so everyone can move forward. We’re waiting on a final decision.

“Nothing is delaying it-  the usual stuff. Though it could’ve been done more swiftly.”
