The RSPCA is appealing for information about an incident which led to the death of a dog in a popular Coventry park.
It says it involved a brindle-coloured Staffordshire bull terrier and a Rough Collie (Lassie-type) dog and happened in Longford Park not far from the entrance behind Oak View Road and Hurst Road.
The RSPCA says: “It is not clear what actually happened but the Staffordshire bull terrier died at the scene during the incident, which happened on March 6, and the RSPCA were called to investigate.”
Inspector Nicola Johnson said: “At this stage it is not clear what actually happened in the park so I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information which will help me build a clearer picture to get in touch.
“The incident happened between 12.50pm and 1.15pm as both dogs were being walked by their owners at the location pictured.
“The park is a popular area with walkers so I am hoping someone may have seen something which can help my investigation.”
Anyone with information about the incident should call the RSPCA appeals line on 0300 123 8018.
