ALL the high drama of the wild west comes to Leamington on Sunday August 4 in the shape of a charity show with a difference.
After last year’s sell out show Happily Ever After? Made in 48 Hours are delighted to be returning to the Loft Theatre in Leamington with this year’s offering, Once Upon a Time in the West… Midlands.
Yet again the team will be attempting the seemingly impossible – learning lines, rehearsing moves, finding costumes, putting up the set and delivering a rip-roaring comedy all in just two days.
As its the company’s 20th year this year, as an added treat, they will be joined on stage by a live band, led by the multi-talented Matt Flint.
It has been many years in the making but finally, they will be taking on that infamous genre; The Western. In the small town of Gruene, in the heart of the Texan Hill Country, life is simple. That is until a new gang, hell bent on causing trouble, ride into town. Perhaps the arrival of a mysterious stranger, looking for revenge is their only hope.
Those with a nose for on-the-edge drama are promised another evening of entertainment and hilarity as the company try to make it through the play without forgetting their lines or falling over the set – all under the watchful eye of director Sam Harris.
Sam, one of the founders of Made in 48 Hours, has been organising these productions on an annual basis for the last 20 years.
She said: “We started out with just a combined cast and crew of ten and it’s wonderful that we’re not only still going but also to see how much we’ve grown over the years.”
“I have never been able to work out how the cast manage to learn their lines so quickly. It’s amazing what you can retain, but sometimes people forget things and we have to get out of it which always seems to give the audience a good laugh.
“It’s great fun and of course this year we have the added challenge of singing with a live band. We are so excited to be welcomed back to the Loft Theatre and are extremely grateful for their help and support.
“As always the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity and this year;s show will be in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”
Made in 48 Hours presents Once Upon a Time in the West… Midlands on Sunday August 4, starting at 7.30pm.
