Belgrade announce packed schedule with family favourite 'Babe' headlining this summer

A PACKED schedule of entertainment featuring music, dance, laughter, drama and family has been announced by the Belgrade Theatre for 2017.

Headlining the popular theatre’s programme is family classic, Babe – the sheep pig.

In a heart warming tale of friendship, adventure and bravery, Babe follows the story of one piglet’s rise to become the world famous sheep-pig.

Based on the classic novel by Dick King Smith, the family favourite will be brought to life by a cast of West-End performers in a show brimming with laughter, thrills and puppetry.

The show will run on the Belgrade’s Main Stage from Thursday, July 13, until Saturday, July 15.

Also announced is the ultimate Ian Dury and the Blockheads musical, Reasons to be Cheerful.

Playing on the Main Stage on Friday, September 8, and Saturday, September 9, the punk rock musical will feature all the band’s greatest hits.

From Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, Sweet Gene Vincent, Spasticus Autisticus and Hit Me with your Rhythm Stick, the show is heading back out on the road after featuring in the Opening Ceremony at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

All performances will be fully accessible and include captioned dialogue, BSL-interpreted songs and audio description.

World renowned Russian State Ballet and Opera will present three classical gems in October.

Swan Lake on Monday October 23, Nutcracker on Tuesday October 24, and Romeo & Juliet on Wednesday October 25 will light up the theatre’s main stage.

As always, the Belgrade will be presenting a range of live music shows including Jive Talkin’ perform the Bee Gees – Live in Concert, The Quo Experience, Bobby Sox and Blue Jeans, The Songs of Rod Stewart, and more.

All of these shows will form the Belgrade’s Autumn 2017 Season – which includes previously announced shows Godiva Rocks, a new musical featuring hit songs from Coventry artists through the decade.

Following sell-out success of Gangsta Granny in 2016, the Belgrade also welcomes Awful Auntie – the next in the series of best-selling children’s books by David Walliams to be brought to the stage.

This world premiere production by the acclaimed Birmingham Stage Company comes to Coventry from Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th February in 2018.
