CHIEFS at Coventry’s University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust have revealed what is in store for viewers of tonight’s city-based A&E documentary.

A&E: Crash Scene Emergency will air on Channel 5 and tells the stories of patients brought to UHCW, as medical teams battle to treat people injured on roads and motorways.

This evening’s episode features David, who was driving along a country lane when he collided with a tractor on a blind bend.

The episode also features motorcyclist Aiden, who was struck by a car on his way home from the gym, and Rodger, whose paramotor crashed into the ground at speed.

The ten-part series also follows the stories of a Moto GP rider thrown off his bike at 80mph while racing at Silverstone.

The series shows the varied and challenging paths faced on the road to recovery.

University Hospital is the adult Major Trauma Centre for Central England and admits more than 1,800 patients with serious injuries a year.

Tonight’s episode will air at 9pm on Channel 5.

What Happened Last Week?

Last week’s pilot saw Martin, who suffered a cardiac arrest while driving but survived, thanks largely to the CPR skills of a neighbour, and is on the road to recovery.

The 76-year-old said: “They’re definitely on the Christmas card list.

“This was the first time they had done CPR, it’s an invaluable skill to have.

“I had a special pacemaker fitted and I’m now out and about walking. The staff at the hospital were great.”
