January 2021 Premier League transfer rumours

Coventry Editorial 23rd Dec, 2021 Updated: 30th Dec, 2021   0

With the January mercato window being less than a fortnight away, the rumour mill has cranked up in recent days.

The January 2022 transfer window opens Saturday, January 1, 2022 for clubs in the UK, and two days later for clubs in Spain and Italy.

Paul Pogba will be out of contract in the summer, is ready to end on his Old Trafford career next month, and reports are suggesting that the France international will leave Manchester United in January.

Former Scotland striker, Frank McAvennie, has warned Pogba that he should never play for Man United again if he doesn’t agree a contract extension.

After the rumours about Real Madrid no longer considering moving for the World Cup winner, Juventus are believed to be keen to re-sign the central midfielder.

Reports are suggesting Marcus Rashford would be interested in a move to Barcelona, with the Spanish giants said to be closely monitoring the Manchester United forward’s situation.

The 24-year-old England striker admitted he ‘would never say no’ to playing abroad.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are closely monitoring Rashford’s situation, and the Blaugrana club are optimistic that they can bring the MBE to Camp Nou.

Following Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Greuther Furth last week, in which Erling Haaland scored a brace, the 21-year-old forward appeared to be waving farewell to the supporters inside the Westfalenstadion.

The Norwegian striker scored 76 goals in 75 games for Dortmund since joining them in the 2020 January mercato from Salzburg. Haaland’s release clause will be £63million next summer, so Mino Raiola could be looking to get a better deal next month.

According to bookmakers, PSG are the 6/1 favourites to sign Haaland, Man City are second in the betting market at 9/1. Bayern Munich are priced at 12/1 as they seek a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski. Head over to Bet365 account open tutorial if you wish to get involved.

Mino Raiola has claimed that long-time Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt is allegedly willing to leave Juve for a new challenge.

De Ligt has already been offered to The Blues ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports, as Tuchel could lose Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen on a free transfer next summer.

‘We can all think of the clubs that Matthijs could go to. That can be the Premier League, but also Barcelona, Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain,’ Raiola said in an interview with NRC.

Eden Hazard has been linked back to making either a Chelsea or Lille return in the upcoming transfer windows as he has failed to deliver in Spain.

The Belgian has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Real Madrid due to repeated injuries, and the Madrid directors are less protective of the player than they once were.

Hazard was signed for £90million in 2019, and reports say that Florentino Perez is considering whether the club should recoup at least £21million on him.

The fans have also lost patience with the former Chelsea playmaker, after Real Madrid were held to a goalless draw by Cadiz at the Bernabeu on Sunday.
