Staff at West Midland Safari Park are celebrating after winning ‘Large Visitor Attraction of the Year’, at the Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards.

The award, which recognises the Park as the best in its field within Worcestershire, was presented to representatives at an inaugural awards evening on 11 March, at Stanbrook Abbey Hotel, hosted by comedian, Dominic Holland.

After two rounds of judging, which included a mystery shop, judges concluded that West Midland Safari Park is, “accessible to all visiting guests,” and noted, “the fantastic interactive experience for the whole family to enjoy, including many outstanding feature attractions and an extensive seasonal events programme.”

Head of Marketing, Vikki Green, said:

“After a challenging couple of years for the attraction industry, it was great to see Worcestershire’s tourism providers come together to celebrate. We are over the moon to have won Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, which recognises our commitment to providing a fun-packed day out for all the family.”

“It’s a huge achievement and credit to all of our staff who help make our guests feel welcome, connect them to our amazing animals and create memories that will last a lifetime.”

The ‘Large Visitor Attraction of the Year’ award was sponsored by Thatcher’s Cider and shortlisted alongside the Park were Worcester Cathedral, Severn Valley Railway and Morgan Motor Company.

The Park’s social media platforms also achieved top marks from judges and its ongoing contribution to conservation was also commended.

They concluded that:

“The new accommodation offers one of the most unique experiences in the UK and we look forward to seeing the ongoing developments of this Worcestershire landmark to make it one of the best family attractions in the country.”

All winners of the Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards are automatically forwarded for entry into the Visit England Awards for Excellence, which means the Park will represent Worcestershire as one of the best tourist destinations in England.
