HOMELESS dogs are hoping to find somewhere to put their paws up this Christmas.
After the success of the Observer and Dogs Trust’s 12 Dogs of Christmas appeal in recent years – we are again appealing to readers to find a place in their hearts and homes for a four-legged friend.
Despite the impact of the pandemic, the Honiley-based rehoming centre has found homes for more than 600 dogs this year – and they are hoping it won’t be long before these twelve find their special someone too.
Assistant manager James Ackner said: “It has of course been a year none of us could have imagined, but thanks to the dog-loving public who have opened their hearts and their homes to our gorgeous dogs, we have continued to find dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages their ideal families.
“We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us in whatever way this year, and we have our fingers crossed that it won’t be too long before we are waving a very fond farewell to these dogs who are more than ready to head off to their forever homes.”
Nigel is a two-year-old patterdale cross and Dogs Trust staff say he is a real livewire – like most patterdales.
He arrived in September and can’t wait to be in a home with owners who are happy to channel his energies, as he likes to keep his brain busy too.
The team say he is a sweet boy who likes to have access to areas where he can walk without being bothered by other dogs and as he loves the company of people, he’d love his owners to be at home with him a lot.
He is a clever boy and learns new things very quickly so he’d suit owners who would find it rewarding to do fun training activities with him. He also loves to play with his toys. The team say Nigel will make his new owners laugh every day.
