31 jobs lost as Coventry paper manufacturer is liquidated

Coventry Editorial 4th Mar, 2024   0

A PAPER maunfacturer in Coventry has entered liquidation after 32 years of trading.

All 31 staff at Carton Edge were made redundant when trading ceased last month.

The demise of Carton Edge – best known in the cling film and foil dispenser cartons – was attributed to ‘challenging market conditions’. The firm supported packaging, printing and carton manufacturing companies.

The company told TheBusinessDesk.com: “Carton Edge Packaging Limited traded as Carton Finishers for over three decades.

“Despite the team’s best efforts to increase sales, reduce costs and improve efficiencies the company was unable to sufficiently compensate for the very tough trading conditions.

“Accordingly, the board took the difficult decision to cease trading on February 1, 2024.

All 31 staff members lost their jobs that day and it entered voluntary liquidation on February 21.

The company added: “BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency consulted with the board throughout their decision-making and ultimately assisted following their decision to close.”
