Steven Barnes is accused of killing the 57-year-old who was discovered seriously injured at an address in Hopedale Close last Tuesday.
The 64-year-old of Radford, Coventry, has also been charged with the attempted murder of a woman in her 90s who remains in a stable condition in hospital.
