A 95-YEAR-OLD Sky Blues fan had the opportunity of a lifetime when he got to watch Coventry City’s match against Hull City in the platinum hospitality suite.

Mac M Muckley, who lives at Austin Heath Retirement Village, had his dream come true, thanks to XL Motors and Marie Edmunds, the village’s wellbeing navigator.

Ever since he attended his first Coventry City match in 1936 at the age of nine, witnessing their triumphant victory over Torquay United, Mac has been an unwavering and loyal fan.

As time went on he found it harder and harder to get to the club’s matches because of his mobility.

After being invited by XL Motors, Marie collected him and took him for a silver service lunch at the suite.

The day bean with a ,former Coventry City footballer serving as the Master of Ceremonies, introducing Mac as the oldest supporter present that day, captivating the attention of many supporters and their families who were eager to hear first-hand accounts of life in Coventry during the 1930s and 1940s.

As the match got underway, Mac enjoyed a prime view of the pitch from his reserved seats just outside the hospitality suite. Unfortunately, the match ended with a 1-1 draw, but Mac remained happy with his experience.

Following the final whistle, Mac also had the privilege of meeting various dignitaries, including the chairman and owner of the club and he was able to personally congratulate man of the match Gustavo Hamer.

Mac said: “It was a wonderful day and I have to thank XL Motors and Marie for giving me an unforgettable experience.

“What a way to see a football match, it was magical.”
