£9k raised on the buses for local charities

Coventry Editorial 10th Jan, 2020   0

MORE than £9,300 was raised for eight different charities last year by National Express Bus employees across the Coventry, Solihull and West Midlands region.

Over Christmas, passengers saw Santa driving decorated buses, instead of his usual sleigh, as part of a final fundraising push by staff.

The charities were selected by staff at each of the bus operator’s local depots and travelshops across the West Midlands, with many of the chosen causes close to their own hearts.

Charities that were nominated and supported during 2019 were Acorn’s Children’s Hospital, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Prostate Cancer, CLIC Sargent, Myton Hospice, West Midlands Air Ambulance, Walkden Ward at Sandwell Hospital and Mind.

Cara Higgs, the bus company’s UK community engagement manager at National Express, said: “National Express is proud to be a part of the communities we serve and we’re delighted to be able to give something back to some great causes.

“With the help of generous and kind donations from our colleagues and our customers, we’re proud to have raised a fantastic amount of money for those causes that are close to our hearts.”
