WMG Academy Coventry is celebrating another year of achievement for all students in Year 13.

This year, the academy saw another rise in the overall average point score of Post 16 qualifications, as well students achieving a grade of Distinction in its specialist technical qualifications in Engineering.

WMG Academy Chief Executive Stewart Tait said: “I am delighted that students at the WMG Academies have had their commitment and endeavours rewarded with impressive examination results that will allow them to progress to the next stage of their journey, be that University, Apprenticeships or direct employment.

“While it is always pleasing to report year on year improvements in results, this year has seen yet another rise in the overall average point score of Post 16 qualifications as well students achieving a grade of Distinction in our specialist technical qualifications in Engineering.

“Once again, there is a very impressive range of destinations that have been secured by Year 13 students that they and their teachers and parents should be rightly proud of.”

Some 92 per cent of the whole cohort achieved grades between A* and C and / or Distinction* and Merit, with 67 per cent of A-level students gaining A* to C grades.

Engineering specialist students performed well in all Level 3 qualifications, with 89 per cent of students achieving Distinction* to Merit.

Some 63 per cent of Year 13 applied for university courses and all have secured places, with 11 more students heading off to start Level 3 and 4 Apprenticeships.

The remaining cohort are starting full time employment or a Gap year.
