A45 closed after 'unexplained death' near Meriden

THE A45 is expected to be closed through Monday after an ‘unexplained death’ on a road near Meriden.

Emergency services were called after a body was discovered in the road in Great Packington at around 7.30pm on Sunday (March 11) night.

Roads between Maxstoke Lane and Packington Lane have been closed since.

Warwickshire Police this morning said: “Officers were called at 7.12pm on Sunday, 11 March, to the A45 in Meriden, Coventry.




“A body was found on the road and the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and police are appealing for anyone who saw a pedestrian in the area to come forward.


“The road remains closed westbound near to the Maxstoke Lane junction.

“Anyone who has any information which could help police is asked to call 101 quoting incident 328 of 11 March.”

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson this morning said: “We were called at 7.26pm on Sunday to the A45 and Great Packington after reports of a person in the road.

“An ambulance and a paramedic officer were sent. On arrival, sadly we confirmed the death of a male.”

Traffic warnings have been issued and the A45 is expected to be closed for most of Monday according to traffic websites.
