A woman believed to have been abducted from a Coventry street has been found safe and well.

A major investigation was launched after a woman was seen to be forced into a car by four men on Foleshill Road on Friday (February 12).

Following a large-scale search she voluntarily attended a police station in London yesterday evening (February 13), where she told officers she knew the men and had not been abducted.

Detective Superintendent Maria Fox, from West Midlands Force CID, said: “We would like to thank everyone that came forward with information; a lot of people who saw what was happening on the street were understandably shocked and they did they right thing by calling us.

“Since the report, officers have worked around the clock to find the woman as her safety was our absolute priority.

“Fortunately she has been found safe and unharmed, it appears that the woman knew the men and we are satisfied that she is safe and well.”

Officers will continue to investigate whether any offences have been committed.
