A FESTIVAL celebrating Coventry talent will be coming to the Albany Theatre on Sunday, September 25 following last year’s huge success.

The Generate Festival gets underway at 7pm and will be giving community performers including amateur theatre, youth and dance groups and choirs the chance to showcase their talents.

It’s expected that around 10 acts will be performing this year, with Albany Theatre working with the organisations to give them a platform to perform in a professional setting.

This event is hoped to become an annual family-friendly festival that showcases a diverse range of talent.

Last year’s festival was held over several weekends in a different venue with 45 acts on show from several different art forms including dance, choirs and cheerleading.

This years festival has been made possible by the City of Culture Trust, with last years event being produced by Coventry 2021.

Albany Theatre chief executive and artistic director Kevin Shaw said: “The festival offers a great opportunity for groups to bring an already established performance or to create something new, especially for the festival to a theatre setting, perhaps for the first time.”

Tickets cost £5 each with performances expected to last two and a half hours.

There are 505 tickets available in total for the festival.
