Andys Man Club coming to Coventry next week

Holly Clement 20th Nov, 2024   0

A CLUB for men aged 18 and over is set to take place every Monday from 7pm in Coventry starting next week.

The free club, Andys Man Club, was founded by the family of Andy Roberts, after he took his own life with non indication to his family or friends that he was suicidal.

His brother-in-law, Luke Ambler, and mother, Elaine Roberts, founded the group in the hope that men who struggled to open up had a safe space to do so.

The first session ran in Halifax in 2016, with nine men in attendance on the night.

The groups follow the same model they did on the first night and are now available in hundreds of locations nationwide, stretching from Plymouth to Aberdeen.

Following on from the COVID-19 pandemic, it created an online function via Google Meet and enables men who cannot leave there homes to join the sessions.

In the long-term, the charity aims to have a location within 30 minutes travel of any man in the UK.

The first session in Coventry will take place on November 25 at Coombe Hall Conference and Events, Rugby Rd, Brandon, Coventry CV8 3GH.
