DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a Coventry man found dead inside his flat have charged a man in connection with the death.

Anil Vegad, 57, was found at his home in Eden Street, Paradise, on Monday (June 1).

Police say Matthew Chibnall, of the same address, was arrested after handing himself in to police on the same day.

The 54-year-old was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court today (June 5).

A post mortem examination found that Mr Vegad died as a result of a stab wound to his back. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers at this tragic time.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information which can assist our enquiries to come forward.
