POLICE have named a man killed at his flat in Coventry as Anil Vegad.
Magistrates have given detectives more time to question a man suspected of murdering Mr Vegad, 57, following the discovery of his body on Monday night (June 1).
A murder investigation was launched following the death at a home in Eden Street, Paradise.
In a statement, a spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “We’ve been granted extra time to question a murder suspect as a man found dead in a Coventry flat has been named as Anil Vegad.
“We discovered 57-year-old Mr Vegad at his home in Eden Street on Monday evening (1 June).
“A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody for questioning.
“We were this morning (3 June) granted a magistrates court extension which enables us to question the suspect for up to 36 more hours.
“A post mortem is due to take place tomorrow and we’re continuing to support the family of Mr Vegad during this difficult time.
“Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information which can assist our enquiries to come forward.
