THE ANNUAL Four Provinces ‘dinner and dance’ events has helped raise over £5,000 for Coventry’s Myton Hospice, with this year’s extravaganza proving to be bigger and better than before.

Hundreds of pub regulars as well as family and friends gathered at the Standard Triumph Club for an evening of live entertainment last month.

Bang on the Ear provided the soundtrack to the evening and a raffle included many top prizes including match tickets for Coventry City and Coventry Rugby Club, as well as a voucher for a meal at Michelin star restaurant The Cross in Kenilworth.

The evening also acted as a presentation awards ceremony for the Four Masters gaelic football team.

This year’s event raised £2,350, which when combined with last year’s total makes a fundraising effort of £5,169.59 for Myton Hospice.

“We’ve had lots of support from the local community and we’re absolutely delighted that we got another great turnout,” said organiser and Four Provinces regular Terry Twomey.

“We have to say a huge thank you to Alex Ceairns and Martin Ryan at the Four Provinces who have helped let us stage another wonderful event and of course the staff at the Standard Triumph Club.

“It’s great to see so many generations come together and it’s also nice for the Irish community to give something back for such a great cause.

“This year’s event was sold out and we’re already booked up for next year.”

The Four Provinces pub is a family-friendly venue which has been based in the heart of Coventry’s Irish community since 1965.

Best friends Alex Ceairns and Martin Ryan took over the reigns at the Chapelfields pub in 2014 and since then it has gone from strength to strength.

The popular venue houses a free to hire function room and hosts a variety of activities from up-and-coming music bands to Irish dancing lessons, and it also supports a variety of sports teams including gaelic football.
