A WOMAN is in a life-threatening condition following a collision in a police chase.
Independent investigators are looking into the circumstances of a crash after a car which failed to stop for police collided with a car in Foleshill.
A VW Golf, earlier pursued by Warwickshire Police officers, crashed into an Audi while on the wrong side of Foleshill Road.
Police say a 49-year-old woman travelling in the rear of the Golf suffered serious internal injuries.
Her condition is described as life threatening in hospital.
The 20-year-old male driver of the Golf was also transferred to hospital having suffered a fractured kneecap, while a 16-year-old male passenger has since left hospital.
West Midlands Police are appealing for public help to piece together the circumstances of the crash.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “Our collision investigators will question the driver when he is fit to be interviewed.
“The Audi driver, a man aged 20, escaped with minor injuries.”
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a high impact collision. One woman has suffered very serious injuries and it’s fortunate no-one else travelling in the cars was more seriously hurt.
“The Golf had earlier failed to stop for Warwickshire police colleagues after they attempted to make a compliant stop and had been pursued shortly before the collision.
“If anyone saw the collision or the VW Golf being driven in the build-up to the crash then I’d urge them to get in touch.”
